LEAP Into Life After School Program

Programs

Art classes, music programs, Bigfork gymnastics, science & technology, academic enrichment, 4-H, children’s activities… all under one roof at CrossRoad’s Christian Fellowship. Below is a list of many of our LEAP programs and a short description:

MUSIC

  • Choir: On Fridays, kids hone their vocal chords through our very own LEAP Choir!
  • Keyboarding: Brach Thomson, founder of the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre, teaches keyboarding to interested participants. A great way to learn all about music from reading notes to playing favorite tunes!
  • Jr. Orchestra: Participants learn to play the violin taught by the talented and experienced violinist Wai Mitzutani.

GYMNASTICS, HEALTH & FITNESS

  • Gymnastics: Run by Bud Gaiser, Bigfork gymnastics through LEAP offers both beginner and intermediate classes. Includes balance beam, bars, trampoline, horse, floor and more! Extra activities include participation in basketball half- time shows, Cowabunga Variety Show and awards meet. (Additional fee)
  • SPARK: Sports, Play, and Active Recreation For Kids is an after school program full of fun fitness ranging from dance to group sports. This is a wonderful way to introduce kids to the importance of health, wellness and how good it feels to be active.

ACADEMIC

  • Einstein Club: Science on a whole new level to include nature, rockery, weird and wacky concoctions – Mr. Albert Einstein himself would be amused!
  • Technology: LEAP has a full gamut of interesting ways for participants to learn the latest and greatest in an-ever changing technological world
    • Educational Computer Games
    • Newspaper Production: Our very own Bi Golly News hits the stands every other month. Kids sell ad space, write articles, take photos, and produce this fantastic publication!
    • Filming: LEAP films and edits its own productions to share with friends, family and the community.
  • Power Hour: Designed to help children with their homework and LEAP provides tutors for additional help.

ARTS & HUMANITIES

  • Acting & Creating Plays: LEAP participants help to create and act in their own plays! Combined with filming and editing, kids experience the whole production from start to finish.
    LEAP is an active supporter and partner of the Bigfork Children’s Theatre.
  • Puppetry: Another outlet allowing for creative expression, puppetry is truly delightful!
  • Fine Arts: Bigfork art classes include drawing, painting, ceramics, paper making, print making and Native American Art taught by local artist Lusanna Stokes.

COMMUNITY & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Leadership Program: Kids interact within the community, such as visiting an Assisted Living facility and decorating the halls with handmade posters. Older kids assist with the younger children and participate in the Reading Buddy Program where they read to kindergartners monthly.

    NEW this summer… Tiger Woods Leadership Program for upper elementary ages.
  • Character Building & Social Development: Through puppetry and acting, kids role play social scenes, post their creations on You Tube and share them with the community so their peers can see their friends in these plays dealing with contemporary issues kids face in today’s world.
  • 4-H: With their very own after school program, 4-H is a great introduction to the full-fledged 4-H curriculum. Activities include nutrition,caring for animals, arts & crafts, textiles and more.
  • Girl Scouts: LEAP hosts weekly Girl Scout meetings for those involved with Girl Scouts of America
